FIVE POINT KENPO KARATE

Five Point Kenpo Karate was founded by five black belts that had previously been under the tutelage of Joe Palanzo in Pikesville, Maryland. In 1997, due to differing philosophies, the five black belts broke off from Mr. Palanzo and established a school at TEKEN’s Gym in Randallstown, Maryland. The name was derived from the fact that there were five black belts forming a school in the art of Kenpo Karate, five principles of the school (Integrity, Respect, Determination, Dedication, and Discipline), and the five points required for a win in tournament sparring, hence Five Point Kenpo Karate. Over the next five years the school moved to several other locations in Randallstown, before finding its present home at 7123 Windsor Mill Road, Ste 104 in Windsor Mill, Maryland in 2003.

The instructors at Five Point Kenpo Karate are dedicated to their students in providing each individual an opportunity to develop his or her focus in their life and insight and into their own persona. Under their guidance, students learn the art of American Kenpo Karate. In addition to the martial arts skills that are taught; students develop self-confidence, discipline, and build self-esteem.

Our objective is to provide our students, especially children, with some of the tools they need to be successful in life. Through the instruction provided by our staff and instructors, students will develop their ability to focus and the self-determination needed to deal with life’s challenges.

The ability to properly execute a technique to defend ones-self is a skill that should not be minimized, particularly in today’s dangerous environment. However, our approach emphasizes avoiding trouble and using Kenpo only as a last resort. The discipline and character that we help our students develop give them the confidence to do just that – use their innate intelligence and discipline to avoid conflict. If trouble cannot be avoided, our students have the tools needed to deal with it.
